Alert Type info ALERT: On January 22, 2025, USCIS announced a key update: as of January 20, 2025, immigration officers will no longer issue Requests for Evidence (RFEs) or Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs) based on COVID-19 vaccination status. This change follows the CDC’s March 11, 2025 update to its Technical Instructions for Civil Surgeons, officially removing the COVID-19 vaccine from the list of required immunizations for individuals applying for immigrant admission. As a result, anyone undergoing an immigration medical exam for an adjustment of status application pending on or after January 20, 2025, is no longer required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Until Form I-693 (Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record) is formally revised, civil surgeons should either cross out the COVID-19 section or mark it as “N/A.” If all other vaccination criteria are met, they should indicate that the applicant has completed the vaccination requirements or may qualify for a blanket waiver.
